“Lydia, I’ve had a crush on you since the third grade.”
#i never really paid attention to what he said in this scene #this ain’t cute #i don’t understand why he’s so confused that she’s not responding to his bs#like he told her that she’s basically the grinch #that nobody is aware that she’s a queen besides him and somehow that makes HIM special #and tacked on a real complement at the end of all the backhanded ones
Yeeaaahh, seeing the dialogue in gif form is a little cringe-worthy. You’re not the only one, Stiles. Allison knew early on, and Lydia has slipped many times where Jackson is concerned.
She already has plans to win the Fields Medal. Has Lydia ever acted like she’s a nitwit? Has she ever shown a lack of knowledge about something, or is she just herself and talks about make-up, and taking pictures, and parties, and worries about who the newest kids at school are, and dating someone popular, and people just assume that , plus the way she talks (super girly), means she’s either average or is outright failing at school? Because there’s a difference between the two situations.
Fandom perpetuates this idea that just because she has interests other than constantly being the one to one up everyone in the smarts department that makes her vapid and shallow.
Which is bullshit.
Do they not realize what you’re interested in has nothing to do with how smart you actually are? And that Lydia is smart enough to know archaic Latin and a thousand fashion designers and one is not more legitimate than another.
