Fifty Shades of Grey - Chapter Twelve
Yup. He read Ana’s email which said ‘Okay, I’ve seen enough. It was nice knowing you.’ and took it at face value. He then, upon receiving this flat-out refusal to get involved with his Dom/Sub lifestyle, proceeded to drive to her home, walk into her house, step into her bedroom without asking, tie her up, threaten and shame her when she lashes out with her feet and says ‘No’, strip her naked, molest her, finger her, spank her and fuck her from behind, all while throwing the words in her email back in her face by asking, ‘Is that nice?’ at every juncture. Doesn’t that sound, ooh… I don’t know, like a textbook rapist? And I’m expected to hold this man up as a paragon of erotic fantasy? He is nothing but a rancid, fetid haemorrhoid of a man who needs to take a long walk off a short pier while wearing concrete shoes. This is just awful on every level. Terrible writing, terrible story, terrible characters, and it’s been written in the 21st century and still churns out that hackneyed old trope that women love rape, really. No, no they don’t. Make no bones about it, this entire chapter was about Ana getting raped by Grey for refusing his advances. Sorry, guys, but that doesn’t get me going.
