I think it was to get him to grow up and see what his world is going to become. Yes, it was a little, eh, but Scott needed it. How else was he going to become a brave leader?
1. pretty sure there are ways to teach someone something without mental/physical abuse.
2. he wasn’t trying to teach scott to be a leader tho? he was trying to make a point so scott would join his pack and therefore derek could be his leader?!?
3. That might be a leading factor, but you don’t really know why. People interpret things differently and I don’t think Derek is a big bully at heart. It’s funny because people don’t really know what trauma and loss can do to you and the way you see the world unless you actually experience it. He’s such a complicated character and I adore him (and Scott..and everyone else on the show…even Matt and Mr. Harris)
past experiences aren’t excuses for abuse, they’re just not.
Adoring someone doesn’t excuse their horrible behavior.
