THIS IS NOT OKAY.
this is not original, this is not funny. an INNOCENT PRE-TEEN GIRL accidentally sent a photo to a wrong number and is now being mocked and harassed by many tumblr users, because someone had the audacity to post her mobile number and ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO HARASS HER.
THIS IS NOT OKAY.
i texted the poor girl letting her know what’s going on. “oh my god thank you so much honestly it’s really freaking me out! i accidentally sent it to the wrong number and i’ve gotten weird texts from a lot of numbers”. and then, “i just want it taken down or something like it was a mistake and i’m getting upset about it”.
by sending anything to this SCARED, PRE-TEEN GIRL, you are frightening her. you are upsetting her. she did not deserve this shit, and i am completely and utterly disgusted in the people on this website who have taken part in this. the post is gaining notes at an extremely rapid pace, and this poor girl deserves none of this. THIS IS NOT FUNNY. THIS IS NOT A HARMLESS JOKE. YOU ARE FRIGHTENING HER. YOU ARE HARASSING HER.
please take time to email email@example.com, asking them to take the post down. give them the link to the original post and let them know that THIS IS NOT OKAY. the original link can be found here: (her number isn’t blurred here but for the love of god DO NOT SEND HER ANYTHING) http://spoopyscarytitans.tumblr.com/post/69332088172/so-this-random-girl-i-dont-know-sent-me-a-picture
my mom has been a cop for over 20 years and she is the one who constantly warns me about police aggression and young male cops and told me that if you’re ever alone on a rural road and a cop throws their lights on to put on your four ways and drive to the next gas station before stopping because so many cops are scum and it’s not worth the chance of getting hurt. the fact that SHE feels the need to tell me this shit scares me to death
I recently learned from Black female bloggers that we are appropriating this word. A Black feminist named Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw came up with the term intersectionality to talk about how race and gender intersect for women of color. It was never intended for white women to use to describe our own feminism or an allegiance with woc—or, worse yet, intersecting oppressions for white people.
We can be anti-racist, we can be allies, we can be social justice bloggers, but we are not “intersectional.” We don’t experience the intersection of race and gender.
The thing is Crenshaw never gets credit for coining this term and white feminists ignore the fact a Black woman invented it to describe her experience as a Black woman, and for other women of color to use. We as white feminists often use this term without ever engaging with Black womanists and Black feminists or other feminists of color, which constantly sidelining their issues, and being racist ourselves or not checking our privilege. Also, I’ve seen white women go to a desi woman’s ask box, when she was talking abou racist white feminists in her grad program and tell her, “oh it’s too bad there are no intersectional feminists in your school!” And she had to tell them, “nope they call themselves intersectional feminists, but they are still racist and throw woc under the bus.”
Some of us like to think if we call ourselves “intersectional” than we’re not like ~THOSE~ white feminists those ~non-intersectional~ white feminists, but that’s not true. We are white feminists—we have white female privilege. We benefit just as much from white supremacy as anyone else and we are just as able to be racist and exclude, talk over, invalidate or ignore woc.
I used to use this term for myself and I used to use this term to describe “intersections” of my oppressions. But this isn’t right. That’s not how the term was intended. And us white people steal too much shit from POC—especially women of color—ESPECIALLY Black women.
So let’s stop appropriating this term and give it back to the women who it was made for—women of color.
We need to hear your stories to personalize our message. Tell us why you support the boycott of Autism Speaks. How does Autism Speaks’ message/practices/whatever hurt you and/or the people you love?
Guys, seriously. Signal boost. I needed this the other night, and a few weeks ago I was talking with someone who needed it. This is the best freaking thing ever.

Above is the “Know Anon” code that allows you to expose any hateful anons you wish at your own whim. If you know anyone who’s struggling with anonymous hate, reblog this for them.
- How to install
Simply copy the above code and paste it right after the <head> portion of the HTML coding on your blog. This is with the jQuery script included, so everything should be covered. Once you’ve done this, update and save, then exit your customize page.
Re-enter your customize page, and under “appearance” should be a button called “Enable Know Anon”, which may be on or off automatically, depending. Flip the switch to enable or disable it, then save.
- How to use
When you get anonymous hate or anon messages you find offensive, simply exit your Inbox, enter your Customize page, flip the switch to “on”, then save and exist. Re-enter your inbox, and any and all anonymous messages will be exposed with a URL, if they have one. Note that this includes everything, not just the hate. Another thing to note is that, once you expose anons in the inbox, you can’t un-expose them. Flipping the switch back to “off” does nothing.
Answer a message people thought was on anon, and gee, they’ll get a nasty little surprise, hmm? It’s better than a fake anonymous button because while you still can’t control who it exposes, you can control when to do so.
Remember though, that this isn’t the only way to stop anonymous hate. As always, there’s simply the “turn anonymous asks off” button. And thanks to the update from a few months ago, anons CAN be blocked.
That little hand right there? That’s the ignore button. It’s present on all asks sent, whether anon or otherwise. When you block an anon, you have the option to report them for spam or harassment, and it will permanently block them. It also blocks the IP address and computer, so that person can’t take advantage of extra accounts to continue sending you hate. It effectively wipes that person right out of your Tumblr life. They cannot contact your blog again, ever.
For the website that gives you the Know Anon code, with or without jQuery script, in case that causes trouble (most themes come with it pre-installed, but not all), go here.
[ Goodness, wow thank you very much for letting me know this existed! That was very considerate of you! ]
EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN GETTING LITTLE NO-LIFE SHITHEADS BOTHERING THEM.
Here you go. <3
Tweet 1: I can see a lot of people either avoiding Plan B & ending up pregnant or attempting to take multiple doses & getting sick.
Tweet 2: anyone w a credit card (not everyone, I know) can/should use ella ella-rx.com they’ll ship it overnight $45
SIGNAL BOOST. Ella is another form of emergency contraception/the morning-after pill. It’s more effective than Plan B and can be taken up to FIVE DAYS after your mishap, rather than three days. Please spread this around; with all of the anti-choice legislation flying about and how difficult it can be for some people to get Plan B even OTC (like minors, people living in small towns, etc.), this might be the only way a lot of people can get their hands on the morning-after pill.
LifeStraw purifies water instantly and inexpensively: it is a solution that can provide millions of under-privileged people with safe drinking water.
reblogging again because science
Seriously, Science. Do your thing.
IT’S ONLY 20$.
OH MY GOD
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR TUMBLR TO GET WIND OF THIS
I’ll always signal boost this because not only does this work for people in under privilege areas it’s also proof of human ingenuity.
Really, we kids that grew up in the early 90s were all told about how we had to conserve water because drinkable water was such a rare resource and people in foreign lands were basically fucked up the ass because there was no way for them to get drinking water. 20 years and 20 bucks later one of the biggest problems humanity faced is a non issue. THAT’S FUCKING CRAZY!
Somebody should start one of those online donate things where people can donate money to buy these to send to areas with unsafe drinking water. But somebody other than me should do it because I don’t know how to do that kind of thing or get the word out.
this is amazing
FYI to everyone, if you purchase a LifeStraw through EarthEasy, they will send you a LifeStraw and also send one to the Philippines (through the Rotary Water Projects) so that the victims of Typhoon Haiyan can have safe drinking water. So if you were thinking of buying one, buy through them, not Amazon. It’s the same price.
Follow-up to above, you also can donate directly to the LifeStraw fundraiserhere without needing to buy one for yourself. You have drinking water right now. You can wait to get this. They cannot.

Not the most sexy thing in the world, a toilet seat, but hoping tumblr can help and get behind this great new universal design.
Allows people to hold on and ease down.
Helps older people, people who transfer, people with back pain, bigger people, pregnant women, this new super strong seat with handles (wings) needs votes for a $250,000 grant.
This only has 60 votes so far,
COME ON TUMBLR,
help the little guy with a passion for improving something we all use (even the Queen).
Putting Things In Perspective: The photo on the left is Hurricane Katrina moments before it made landfall in Louisiana back in 2005. The photo on the right is Super Typhoon Haiyan, currently making landfall in the Philippines. Basically, what is happening in the Philippines is historic for the world. Super Typhoon Haiyan is one of the strongest storms in world history. You read that correctly, WORLD HISTORY. It is also the strongest storm in the world since 1979. Loss of life is unavoidable in the case of this Super Typhoon. It formed when two separate typhoons joined together. To put things in perspective, a storm bigger than Hurricane Katrina is hitting the Philippines. Unprecedented, indeed.
Absolutely tragic too. :(
Keep the Philippines in your thoughts, please.
What makes it even worse is that it’s going to be mainly in the Visayas region which just experienced a massive earthquake, and there are still some areas that hadn’t received help because they’re hard to reach. The road to recovery has only barely started and now Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda in the Philippines) appears.
If anyone out there wants to help, the Philippine Red Cross is currently open to donations. Even from people outside of the Philippines through this website. (You can pick “Supertyphoon Yolanda” under the campaign field, and since the denomination is in peso, 1 USD = 43 PHP fyi.)
Reblogging for the donations links.

"Go ahead and call the cops- they can’t unrape you”
Imagine being a 13 year old girl who has been raped. By multiple boys. And your rape was filmed and then shared on Facebook, where an audience of thousands of anonymous users watched your personal strife. The next step would be to go to the police – and so you do. And their response? To ask what you were wearing. And then dismiss your rape, saying there’s not enough evidence to proceed.
That’s what happened to a 13 year old young woman who was raped two years ago.
She was the victim of Roast Busters, a group of boys who secretly filmed themselves gang raping intoxicated underage girls. They then humiliated these women by bragging on Facebook – posting videos and sharing the personal anguish of these women with an audience of thousands.
The police are saying there’s not enough evidence to convict these Roast Busters, so they won’t charge them. But, it’s now come to light that one of the rapists is, in fact, a local police officer’s son. And that in the past few years 4 victims have gone to the police – and their voices were consistently ignored.
It’s clear that the police force isn’t doing its part to find justice for these young women. These young women are being dismissed by the official body that is supposed to support those in need – and they have nowhere to turn to because of a lack of proper support services for victims of assault.
That’s why we need our Prime Minister to step up and do the right thing.
The current legal system is too intimidating for victims to come forward - and rapists are being convicted at extremely low rates. And no example of this is greater than these young women who have come forward about Roast Busters – only to be dismissed. Nothing has been done to alleviate the pain and shame these girls feel.
It’s time to demand justice for these young women. It’s time our Government ensured that protocols, including support services for people who are raped or assaulted, are in place so something like this doesn’t happen again.
Use your voice to help these young women whose voices are consistently being ignored.

OK GUYS. In July 2010, I spent about a month in the Volta Region of Ghana. While I was there, I had the chance to spend time at New Seed International, an amazing NGO in the city of Ho. New Seed International provides care and support for people with HIV/AIDS, including a community clinic, an orphanage, and a school.
Esinam, 13, is in the care of New Seed International and she wants to go to school and become a doctor one day, but she needs facial surgery before she can do so. Both of her parents died when she was young, and her grandmother who was taking care of her has recently had a stroke.
Only $130 of her $10,000 goal has been raised in NINE months!
Every dollar helps! And even if you can’t donate, please just reblog this and keep her in your thoughts.

Famous actor Brandon T. Jackson (Percy Jackson, Lottery Ticket, Roll Bounce) live tweets experiencing racism on his US Airways flight being called the n-word and being told “I don’t care if you’re Obama’s son” by a racist staff member. After explaining the racism he’s experienced he tweets “the problem is they want to escort me off the plane for her racial slurs” [x] meaning he’s being threatened to be taken off of the plane for being the victim of racism. I’ll update more as more information comes in. He’s asking for this information to be spread so please do so.
