ok so. Looking for some help from you generally awesomely articulate people tonight. How would y’all reply to this person? Because right now all I feel like saying is “No. You are wrong. Stop talking and go sit in the corner with your wrong.”

Putting rape in quotations like that? Ya, that’s just making me angry right now. Like rape is some kind of pseudo-event and not a real thing that people do or survive. So it needs to be put quotation marks that way some degree of legitimacy is removed from it and we don’t have to take it so seriously. Fuck that shit. Rape jokes and humor act to normalize, and are a form of, hate speech and violence.

And me advocating the removal of pro-rape, rape-apologizing, and rape humor Facebook pages is not the same thing as SOPA being passed. It is not.

Explain that. How rape is something that really happens. And that people who’ve been raped probably would like to be on Facebook too, without being reminded of that. And that when those jokes are made you are basically telling people who have raped that what they’ve done is ok, even funny.
